Preview and Publish

Preview

Previewing your web site allow you to see exactly what your web site will look like when published without making it available to the general public.


  1. Click on Site in the main menu bar.

  2. Click on Preview in the drop-down menu.

  3. Preview Confirmation dialog box appears.

  4. If "Quick Preview" is checked, only files that have changed will be updated. Un-check this to remove any deleted content from the preview site and re-publish all files.

  5. Press OK.

  6. A Preparing Preview progress dialog box will appear.

  7. Once the progress bar completes, your site will open in your default web browser.

Publish

Publishing your site make it available to the public at your web site address.

  1. Click File in the main menu bar.

  2. Click on Publish in the drop-down menu.

  3. The Publish Confirmation dialog box appear.

  4. If "Quick Publish" is checked, only files that have changed will be updates. Un-check this to remove any delete content from the site and re-publish all files.
    Note: It's usually a good idea to un-check this box if you have deleted any pages from your web site to remove any residual content.

  5. Press OK

  6. A Publishing progress dialog box will appear.

  7. Once the progress bar completes, your site has been published

Using a Preview

The preview is a special URL that's not easily accessible to the general public. It is however an address you can email to other people for review or view in different browsers or devices.

Getting the preview URL into your clipboard.
  1. Wait until the preview opens in your default web browser.

  2. Highlight the URL in the address bar of the browser.

  3. Hold down the control key on your keyboard and press C.

  4. The address is now in your clipboard.

Viewing the URL in a different browser once you have the URL in your clipboard.
  1. Open your browser of choice.

  2. Delete all the contents in the address bar.

  3. Place you cursor in the address bar.

  4. Hold down the control key on you keyboard and press V.

  5. Press Enter to open your preview web site.

Emailing the URL to another person.

  1. Create a new Email Message.

  2. Place your cursor into your email editor.

  3. Hold down the control key on you keyboard and press V.

  4. The URL is pasted into your email message.

  5. Send your email message as usual.

Preview Hidden Pages

  1. Look at the URL column in the Pages tab of the Quick Panel.
    Note: you may need to re-size the Quick Panel or URL column to view the URL.

  2. Append the URL found in the Pages tab to the end of the URL the is first displayed in the web browser after completing a preview.

  3. Press Enter.

  4. The hidden page should appear in your web browser.
