Page Properties

Page properties control the name, label and search engine meta information for a page. Page properties are split across 7 dialog tabs.

 Settings

  • Link Type tells the system what will be accessed when the user clicks the associated button.

    • Page - A standard HTML web page (figure 1).

    • File - A file that the user can download (example: PDF file) (figure 2). See "File Link Type" below.

    • External Link - The button will be a link to a web page outside of the site being edited (figure 3). See "External Link Type" below.

    • Link to Page - The button will take the user to a different page in the site being edited (figure 4). See "Link to Page" below.


  • Check "Open in new window" to cause the new page to be opened in a new window instead of replacing the current page.

  • Button Label will be the text displayed in the button. This is also the name the page will be referenced by in the page manager.

  • Title is the title that will appear at the top of the web browser window. This is also valuable information for search engines. 65 characters are recommended.

  • Page Type allows you to select one of the layouts available in the currently selected template. For instance, some layout may have the menu at the top and others may have a menu at the top and bottom.

  • Password Realm allows you to select a realm (list of passwords) to password protect this page. Public means anyone can see this page. See "Authentication" for more information.

File Link Type

  • File Name - Click on the "Upload File" button to upload a file the user will see when clicking on this page button.

External Link

  • External Link must be a fully qualified URL that points to a different page. For instance "http://google.com". If you check the "Display link message" checkbox, you will be able to select a "Link message name". In this case, the visitor will be presented with a message and an option to either Accept or Decline access to the link.

Link to Page

  • Page provides a list of pages in the site being edited. Select one of these pages.

  • Anchor is an anchor point (bookmark) in the selected page.

OK and Cancel

  • Press OK to apply new settings to the currently selected page.

  • Press Cancel to exit dialog box without saving page properties (NOTE: if at any time you used one of the "Apply to All Pages" [IMAGE] buttons, those changes have already been applied and canceling here will not undo those changes).

 Indexing Rules
  • Check "Disallow search engine indexing" to request that search engines don't index this page.

  • Change Frequency tells search engine how often to re-index this page.

  • Priority is a number between 0 and 1 that tells search engines how important this page is within your site.

  • Language tells search engines what language your site is written in.

  • Click on [IMAGE] to copy the option on the left to all pages in your site. This change will be immediate even if you cancel out of the Page Properties dialog box.

Description& Keywords

  • Search Engine Keywords is a comma delimited list of keywords that describe your web page. These are words someone might type into Google, etc. to find the products and services offered on this page. 30 keywords are recommended.


  • Search Engine Description is a narrative description of the content on the page. It is recommended you limit this to 300 characters.
  • Click on [IMAGE] to copy the option on the left to all pages in your site. This change will be immediate even if you cancel out of the Page Properties dialog box.

 Organization

  • Organization is the name of your company or your name for a personal site.

  • City and Zip Code is the address of your organization.

  • Organization Email is the email address people would use to contact your organization. For instance "sales@mycompany.com".

  • Author is the name and email address of the person who wrote this page.

  • Designer is the name and email address of the person who designed this page (graphically).

  • Copyright is your copyright notice. An example is "Copyright © 2013 My Comany, Inc." The © code will be interpreted as the © symbol.

  • Click on [IMAGE] to copy the option on the left to all pages in your site. This change will be immediate even if you cancel out of the Page Properties dialog box.

Geo Tag

This provides the physical location of your business to search engines and map software like Google Maps and MapQuest.

  • Latitude is the geographic latitude of your business.

  • Longitude is the geographic longitude of your business.

  • Region defines the country and state or province of your business.

  • Place Name is the name your business is known by.

  • Google Maps allows you to search for your business using Google Maps. Once you find your place of business and place the pin on it, the Latitude, Longitude and Region fields will be filled in with the relevant information.
  • Click on [IMAGE] to copy the option on the left to all pages in your site. This change will be immediate even if you cancel out of the Page Properties dialog box.

Facebook

This information is to help connect your web site to Facebook with their Open Graph technology.

  • Title is the title of this page as Facebook sees it.

  • Description is the description of this page as Facebook sees it.

  • Select the Type of web page that best describes this page. The names in this drop-down are defined by Facebook.

  • Image allow you to upload an image for Facebook.

  • Site Name should be the name of this web site.

  • Click on [IMAGE] to copy the option on the left to all pages in your site. This change will be immediate even if you cancel out of the Page Properties dialog box.

QR Code

The QR code provided here, when scanned will take the person to this page of your site. You can use the Download button to save this file on your local system. Since QR codes are made of square blocks, this image can be re-sized and used in your print marketing.
